How To Set Up Your Foil

Knowing how to set up your foil correctly will have a crucial impact on your sailing no matter what kind of foil you use.

To get a balanced angle of attack for your foil it is important that you find the right position for:

  1. Foot straps
  2. Mastfoot

These two factors are the most decisive and influence how you can shift your body weight during your flights. You will find that you will need to adapt the position of your straps and your mast foot to suit different kinds of foils, or occasionally also to accommodate for radically different conditions.

In our foil Setup video, Sam explains, how your bodyweight and front wing position will affect the foil in the water and thereby create lift or downforce.

We hope that this video helped you to understand how the weight distribution on your board will affect the foil position in the water. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment below the video on youtube and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
