There is always something we can do to make the ocean cleaner and the world a better place. We at Starboard recently joined a beach clean up, and together we took away 812 kilos of trash from the beaches. Read what Thippayasukon Mongprasert says about the World Cleaning Day event:
Hello Everyone,
Today I would like to share news about the World Cleaning Day event with Trash Hero Bangkok on September 19th 2020. This year, we had the cleanup on the beach at Ampharam temple, Na Jomtien, Chonburi.
The number of volunteers that joined the event was 185 people from many organizations: the Embassy of Norway, Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, POP team from Starboard, Amara watersport, students and teachers of Sattahip Witthayakhom School and Sattahip Technical College, Trash Hero Pattaya team including volunteers from Pattaya, Na Jomtien, and Bangkok.
The amount of trash that we collected was 812 kilograms, sorting by 7 types:
- Contaminated plastic 660.5 kg.
- Glass 36.5 kg.
- Plastic bottle 19 kg.
- Aluminum / Iron can 2.5 kg.
- Rope / Fishing net 71.5 kg.
- Hazardous waste 14.5 kg.
- Metal 7.5 kg.
We can all be a part of the Trash Hero with joining the beach cleanups, and stop using single-use plastic, separate trash, and put it into the right bin. If you do that, then you are one who can help to reduce future waste pollution!
Just think of the way we would pass this world to our children. Let’s start together today!
