At Starboard, we use every opportunity to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions from the company’s running of business. Furthermore, we plant one mangrove tree to absorb the remaining emissions ten times over! Watch the video below to find out more!

On the other hand, another reason for Starboard being a Sustainability Award finalist is thanks to our responsibility for plastics. To do this, we have eliminated single-use plastic and use recycled or natural materials where possible. Furthermore, for each board we produce we reclaim 1.1. KG of plastic for each board! More About The 2020 World Sailing 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award
This is the first time in 2020, where the public is invited to vote for their favorite initiative. Moreover, we hope we can call on our Starboard community to vote for us from November 27th to the 4th December! Help us make our dream a reality, to see Starboard as winners of the Sustainability Award.
The winner of the World Sailing 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award will receive a $10,000 USD prize to help further their sustainability activities. In addition, an iconic trophy made from recycled carbon fiber which was sourced from an America’s Cup boat and infused with bio-resin will be handed to the winner.
Amongst the 2020 nominees are the Hyundai 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 World Championship (NZL), MarkSetBot (USA), Northern Light Composites (NLComp) (ITA) and Starboard (THA).
Please vote for Starboard for the Sustainability Award on the 27th of November. Winning the award would help us go many miles in mangrove forests and plastic-free beaches into the future.
