The Futura concept is built around a wide, thin and compact chassis. The width gives you wind range and power. The thin profile lowers the centre of gravity for added control. The Futura allows you to save energy, maintain a high average speed for miles and turn the smoothest jibes. Our choice for long-distance marathon races.

Futura 63

Dimensions: 225×63, 99 liters

The Futura 63 is based on the successful iSonic 63 and adds more V, more concave and smoother rails to allow you to reach max speed in harder conditions with more comfort. It is the perfect tool for long-distance races such as the Défi Wind.

These models have more volume than their predecessors due to new boxier rails. The cutaways are updated to the new double-steps like those found in the new iSonics to improve planing and acceleration. The result is an extra racing feel and performance without sacrificing comfort. The Futuras are available in Carbon Sandwich and Wood Sandwich.

Ready To Foil (RTF)

The Futura 71, 77 and 86 are fitted with Foil-Ready fin boxes.

Thin Rails

The rails are rounder and thinner than the iSonic rails for more carving bite and easier jibing.

Bottom Shape

The Futuras have a more pronounced Vee across the bottom for improved jibing performance, improved comfort through harsh chop and for a more lively ride.

Drake Slalom DW Ready to Race

The Futuras are fitted with Drake’s flagship Slalom DW Ready to Race fins, top-end production fins that will bring out the best in the Futuras. The Slalom DW model provides huge amounts of speed and acceleration with great jibing abilities.

Lightweight Pads

The Futuras feature 6mm thick footpads in the tail and 4mm in the front. This combination delivers a highly reactive yet comfortable feel while minimizing weight. The thermoformed diamond grooving pattern provides grip and comfort over extended sessions while being resistant to wear-and-tear.

Drake Slick Footstraps

The Drake Slick footstraps are made with FSC-certified, sustainably sourced and plant-based Yulex foam. With 85% natural rubber content, CO² emitted during the manufacturing process is reduced by 80%. The remaining 15% of synthetic neoprene is kept to improve UV resistance.
Carefully sourced with the smoothest fabric for a comfortable feel.

ULTRALIGHT WEIGHT

Ultralight weight at a more affordable price and using more environmentally friendly materials. The bottom is built in full T700 uni-directional flat-woven carbon for maximum stiffness while the deck is 60% carbon, alternating between uni-directional and bi-axial carbon layers for optimized flex. The composite sandwich layers include the use of ultra-high density PET and PVC foam.

STRONG, LIGHT AND ECO FRIENDLY

Designed with the lowest carbon footprint in mind, Starboard’s new Wood Sandwich technology is a full deck and bottom sandwich construction finished with a 0.6mm Australian pine wood bottom. A high-performance PVC sandwich core is used on the entire bottom and the deck’s tail areas for maximum stiffness, maximum durability and minimum weight. The deck is further reinforced with layers of uni-directional carbon and flax fibres for added strength and stiffness. Our most durable tech.

“The Futura is the most comfortable fast board to ride on and at the same time get the feeling of proper speed while flying over the water. You can rail the board like you can on the isonic, but you will feel a bit more comfortable, especially sailing long distances. For an event like Defi wind, long-distance race, or blasting around at your home spot practicing gybes the futura is the easiest board to improve on. It’s just a pure joy to ride!
