Following the Gran Canaria Wave and Slalom World Cup, Pozo hosted another special event. Organization Windsurf Girls on Tour group organized a full day of windsurfing in Pozo Izquierdo. On the 10th of July, 40 women got together and experienced top-level coaching from the world’s leading women windsurfers. A full day of windsurfing, video analysis, giveaways, and plenty of fun. One of the coaches was our Starboard Dream Team rider Sarah-Quita Offringa. She was super stoked to be involved, as she comments below about the special day. Sarah-Quita Offringa: Windsurf Girls on Tour
“The second edition of the Windsurf Girls on Tour event was a success. Massive thanks to Pauline Katz for her passion and for putting so much effort into this. There were 25 participants and 10+ coaches. A total of 40 women on the water!”
What was the goal of the Girls on Tour Day?
“This event is to motivate and inspire other women to get out on the water. Pozo is not the easiest place to windsurf, but it was amazing to see so many women get out there. We had three different groups: Pozo first timers, Wave ride basics and Forward loop.”
“There was a group for every level and this makes this event accessible to everyone. It was great to see so many smiling faces and women supporting each other.”
What did the program look like?
“After a couple of hours on the water, we had a nice dinner at El Viento while analyzing the videos of the day. In the end, we had some cool giveaways, including a Starboard Hyper! We hope to do this next year and that even more women will participate!”

What motivated you to organize this kind of event?
“The main goal of Girls on Tour is to promote women windsurfing in general: getting more women on the water, pushing the level, creating synergy, getting more visibility, and simply being stronger together! It was amazing to see 40 women on the water in crazy Pozo conditions. All shredding with huge smiles, trying forward loop and surfing everywhere. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our sponsors and especially Starboard, who gave away a wave board. An 18 years old young girl from Pozo won the board and she still cannot believe it!”
What are the next plans for Windsurf Girls on Tour?
“We will organize more Girls on Tour events in the future. Follow us on Instagram for the next date :)”
