THE FOIL FREERIDE IN DETAIL

Based on a more powerful platform than freestyle designs, our Foil Freeride evolved to a board/foil geometry and rider stance which provide even more control and confidence at high speed. The Foil Freeride easily maintains optimum trim in lighter conditions, or fast flight mode, even when paired with more powerful sail and foil combinations.

Fly up onto the foil earlier with the extended long cutaway concept proven in our performance slalom foil boards. An efficient nose profile and concave deck increase lift and speed, allowing the strap inserts to move forward for higher performance. An ergonomically shaped standing area and comfortable deck pads ensure endless long reaches are even more enjoyable. 

Smooth touchdowns and intuitive relaunching ensure the 125 and 150 remain easy to ride. Foil Freeride delivers perfect balance throughout upwind, reaching, downwind, tacking, jibing and “surface to air” transitions.

EARLY TAKE OFF

IMPROVED VOLUME DISTRIBUTION AND REDUCED SWING WEIGHT

Shorter noses and mast track further improve manoeuvrability and promote easy take-offs. They also reduce swing weight for a lighter, floating sensation. Improved volume distribution, thin profiles, and flat decks enhance stability and control.

EASY AND CONFIDENT ACTION

The Foil Freeride promotes quick planing and early take-offs. Landings and relaunches are effortless due to increased nose rocker. Hard rail edges along the length of the board ensure it rebounds confidently off the water during touchdowns.

FOIL OPTIMISED PADS

With fewer impacts to absorb when foiling, we’ve designed these pads to be extra thin for added control and feedback while retaining the diamond grooves for perfect grip.

YULEX NEOPRENE

The Drake foot straps are made from premium Yulex foam with the smoothest fabric for a comfortable feel. The perfect connection for long freeride adventures.

WOOD SANDWICH - OUR MOST DURABLE PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY

Jean Louis Colmas started the development of wood sandwich boards in 1985 and by 1994 we introduced his technology in our production. This collaboration led to multiple world championships titles across all disciplines in Windsurfing and it remains a Starboard original. 0.6 mm Australian pine laminated deck increases impact strength while natural unidirectional fibres create awesome reflex sensations. With 500 kg/m3 density, the Pinewood absorbs minimal resin leading to a light board and crisp ride feel. The entire board is wrapped in a 3mm PVC sandwich for long term durability and that classic feel under foot. A protective film covers the wood to hinder the sun’s UV impact over time.
