The 2024 PWA World Cup in Sylt was an exciting event, with some of the toughest conditions in the beginning and followed by lighter but shifting wind at the end of the event. Starboard’s riders rose to the challenge, delivering standout performances across different disciplines. The Queen of Windsurfing, Sarah-Quita Offringa and Blanca Alabau proved their strength by finishing at the top. Our young talent Bobbi-Lynn de Jong showed that the future of the sport is bright by finishing in the top five. As the season heads into its final stages, excitement builds for Sarah-Quita’s next challenge in Maui, where she’ll aim for another Wave World Title.
Wave Division
Sarah-Quita Offringa struck again and claimed the victory after the single elimination at PWA World Cup Sylt. The strong wind and massive waves made the heats incredibly challenging, but Sarah-Quita showed her world-class wave-riding skills. She adapted to the rough conditions, securing a well-deserved victory. This win brings her one step closer to her goal for 2024: another Wave World Title. Sarah-Quita will be heading to Maui for the final stop of the Wave tour, where she will aim to add another prestigious title to her already impressive list of achievements.
Slalom Division
In the Slalom division, Blanca Alabau faced challenging competition in a series of difficult races. Despite the unpredictable conditions, she raced with determination and finished on the podium, securing third place. In the beginning, she struggled to find the correct set-up with her equipment but she pushed through and earned the spot among the top three.
One of the most exciting stories of the event was Bobbi-Lynn de Jong, a rising talent who is just 14 years old. Competing against some of the best in the world, Bobbi-Lynn delivered an outstanding performance, finishing in fourth place. Her incredible result at such a young age is a sign of great things to come, and she’s quickly becoming a name to watch in the world of slalom windsurfing.
