Lorenzo from WindCam took our 2024 Starboard Ultra and put it through proper testing. He was riding the Starboard Ultra in different conditions at the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Sea. From easy to challenging conditions Lorenzo is promising only superlatives about this all-around wave board. As he is saying in the article, he is a regular “Sunday” surfer who just wants to surf a lot, jump a bit and enjoy every session to the fullest. We are very happy that he enjoyed the Ultra and had an amazing experience. Read below about his one-month experience with the 2024 Ultra.
The 2024 Ultra Test By WindCam:
Be prepared for heavy use of absolute superlatives in this test of the Starboard Ultra 93L 2024. I believe it is the best test ever published here on windcam.it. I had many sessions and great pictures. Above all, I think it is the best wave board I have ever tried. We had a month and a half of really excellent conditions and this board accompanied me in all these sessions. In all honesty, I believe it also brings luck. I used it in the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Sea. My sail range was from 3.8m2 to 5.3m2. We had a wide variety of conditions: right tack and left tack, with 100% onshore wind, side-offshore wind and side and side-onshore wind. There wasn’t one day, among the many sessions I’ve had, that made me think, “If only it had been different… it would have been even better”. I’m not a great surfer. I’m the classic Sunday amateur. With this board, everything was easy for me: jumping (a little), surfing (a lot), going out in challenging conditions and always having fun. I really had a lot of fun with this board, much more than usual.
Lorenzo about the details of the Ultra:
For technical details, millimeters, concave, and widths I invite you to visit the official Starboard website by clicking here. I am not the right person to explain the measures they have adopted in this board to make it so amazing. I can tell you that it is planing very easy and has a very high cruising speed. Overall the rides are better than any board I have been lucky enough to try. They really managed to make an onshore board that performs amazingly even in side and side-offshore conditions. I don’t rule out the possibility that some riders who are truly much more radical than me and used to sea conditions with side-to-side-offshore waves prefer something else. In fact, for those surfers, Starboard has another board in its range, the Hyper. But I guarantee you that for 95% of windsurfers, this board represents a step forward in surfing style and speed, in all conditions. I’ve had my best bottom turns and my best cutbacks, all in this month, all with this board, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
I can only strongly advise everyone to get this weapon, which can increase the fun on the water; and I thank Seba and Gianpiero, Starboard representatives for Italy, for making this testing possible (PS: I don’t know if I’ll return it 🙂 ).
