The first PWA Slalom event took place from the 8th to the 12th of May in Aruba as a part of the famous Aruba Hi Winds. This event was the first of the PWA Youth and Junior Slalom events throughout the year. The young riders will have more chances to show their skills in Bonaire and later this year in Turkey. The Slaom World Cup hosted many young riders who are the future of Slalom windsurfing. Our Starboard riders showed great skills and talent. The Bonaire sisters were standouts of the event and secured multiple podiums.
Bonaire sisters on top!
Bobbi-Lynn de Jong was absolutely unbeatable and secured two victories. She finished first overall in both fin and foil in the U17 category. The de Jong twins Lone and Kit had one of the toughest battles of the week. Both girls are very competitive and driven for victory. In the end, Kit finished first in fin and foil in the U15 girls category. Lone secured second place in the fin U15 girls category with only one point behind her sister.
First riders on the Starboard Junior Dream Team: Storm and Louise
We are super excited to welcome the first riders in our Starboard Junior Dream team after the PWA Youth and Junior World Cup in Aruba. Storm Nicolai and Louise van der Meulen showed great talent and skills during the event. We are stoked to have them on our Junior Dream Team pushing hard and inspiring more young riders to join the competition and spend time on the water!
The youngest rider in the fleet Joey!
Joey Ross was the youngest rider in the whole fleet, competing in the U13 category. His small size didn’t stop him from having close battles with the other riders older than him. He loves windsurfing and spends all his time on the water. We are excited to see such a young riders joining the competition and having so much fun!
