Lennart Neubauer has officially claimed his first-ever world title, becoming the 2024 PWA Freestyle World Champion. The 20-year-old Greek-German phenom has been working towards this goal since the beginning of his windsurfing journey. After claiming the Vice-World Title last year, he was ready to take the crown and the Title was closer than ever. His hard work, dedication, focus and consistent top performances paid off.
Despite the PWA World Tour’s final event in Sylt concluding without competition due to a lack of wind, Lennart’s dominance at the PWA Fuerteventura secured him the World Title. Lennart’s victory marks a new era in freestyle windsurfing. His journey to the top has inspired many, and at such a young age, this is likely just the beginning of a long and successful career. Congratulations, Lennart – the 2024 Freestyle World Champion!
Lennart about his maiden Freestyle World Title:
“I’ve been dreaming about this since I started windsurfing 10-11 years ago. And I’ve always said I wanted to be World Champion one day. But I never really believed it in the early years. I started really believing it last year when I became the Vice-World Champion. After that, I started to believe that this year I could actually win. I was training extremely hard this year to be in the right mindset on the day of competition during the PWA Fuerteventura and it worked out. And now I am on the way home from Sylt soaking everything in. It’s just crazy to say that I have a World Title in my mind. It just sounds strange, but it’s true. It’s a very, very weird feeling in a good way, in a very good way.
In general, I am very happy with everything. And of course, I wish we could have run the single in, in Sylt and I was pushing for it with the big gear, but I think it was just a bit too light for us to compete. Hopefully, I can get the Title next year with both events.”
