The Freestyle Pro Tour finale in Naxos, held from October 16th to 20th, delivered an exciting conclusion to the 2024 season. The conditions were extreme, gusting up to 35 knots with on-shore waved up to 1,5 meters. We witnessed 5 days of crazy action and the freestyle level reached a new level. Our Starboard rider Lennart Neubauer, successfully defended his 2023 European title, again claiming the crown as the European Champion. His consistent and powerful performances demonstrated why he’s the reigning force in freestyle windsurfing.
Lennart Neubauer about his win at his home spot:
“I am feeling really amazing about taking the win here in my home spot. The last time this event happened was in 2009. I was very young and didn’t even know what windsurfing was. For me, it is almost more important to win this event. Of course, the World Title also matters, but this event means a lot to me. And it’s cool that I could share this experience with all my friends.”
Our Starboard rider Steven van Broeckhoven took an impressive third place. Even after 15 years at the top of the sport, he still belongs on the podium. Above all, his return to Naxos carried a special significance, as he had won this event back in 2009, marking a remarkable journey. Another highlight was the comeback of Meiky Wieczorek. After a longer break from competition, Meiky caused some stunning upsets, finishing 7th overall. His return has added new excitement to the competition.
All our riders were using the Starboard iGNiTE.
