The 2025 PWA x IWT 4-star event took place in Puerto Rico from the 1st until the 9th of March. Some of the best windsurfers came from around the world to the stunning shores of Shacks Beach and Vega Baja. With powerful waves and lighter wind conditions, the competition was intense as riders pushed their limits. Among the standout performances was our Starboard rider, Federico Morisio, who showed his skills and determination throughout the event. Especially his semi-final heat was an absolute banger, where he scored 13.13 points. He missed the first place in the heat by only 0.7 points. He made it to the final, where he secured an impressive 4th-place finish. His strong result highlights his dedication and motivation for the upcoming 5-star event at his winter home spot in Chile.

Federico about his board setup and the event:
“We had the first days of sailing in a spot called Vega Baja which is more on the north part of the island. The wind was light and side-to-side onshore. I used 5.2 and the Hyper 88. For the quarterfinals and semifinals, we sailed in Shacks. The wind was side-onshore to fully onshore. I still sailed on my Hyper 88. The board still saved me in that kind of tricky and slow conditions. Actually, I wish I had my Hyper 93, which is 15 liters more than my weight. I believe it will become my new big board. Currently, my weight is around 76 kilos. So, the Hyper 88 It’s my medium board now. Before I used to be around 72-73 kilos, so the Hyper 88 was my big board. Despite the lower volume for me, the Hyper 88 still saved me and I did a really good semi-final heat.
The semi-final heat with Morgan Noireaux, Ben Roediger, and Marc Paré was a really tough one. It made a bit of a difference in choosing two good waves and riding them properly. For the final, we moved again to the same spot as on the first day. However, the wind was even lighter and the waves were bigger. It was very light and I wish I had my Hyper 93 liters because I was the heaviest rider. The other guys are super good technically and also lighter and moving around faster than me on bigger gear. So, I had a hard time catching a second wave. My first wave was about seven points. By repeating that or even having a little better wave I could have ended up probably in second position. That would have been a great result. But for this time, I’m gonna be happy with the final and fourth place. I am happy for the achievement and still super hungry to do much better.”

What is next for Federico?
“Now I’m on my way back to Chile. I’m going to get ready for the first 5-star event of the year. It is going to be obviously at a super high level. Probably one of the events with the highest level on the Tour this season. I am coming there with good momentum with my full quiver ready: Hyper 83, 88, and 93.”
