BOARDS DESIGNED JUST FOR FOILING
FOIL X | FOIL FREERIDE | FOIL RACE
Five new foil boards divided into three styles: Foil Race, Foil Freeride and Foil X.
THE FOIL RANGE AT A GLANCE
FOIL X: With small boards and small sails that take off just as a Formula board gets planing, Foil X is about freestyle foiling: maximum fly time, foil jibes and foil 360s. A new windfoiling chapter. Starboard Foil X boards come in two sizes: 105 and 145 liter.
FOIL FREERIDE: These boards are designed to fly at maximum reaching speeds with emphasis on control and performance.
FOIL RACE: The Foil Race 177 is designed for upwind/downwind course racing and PWA foil racing. Successor to the 2018 and 2019 World Champions, it is completely new with massive performance improvements.
THE FOIL RANGE IN DETAIL
THE NEW FOIL X 105
Dimensions: 182x63cm. 105 liter.
Our most maneuverable and playful board ever, both radical and surprisingly user-friendly. Fly downwind, let your sail out and even imitate surf foiling. The next step in foiling for those in the know. Only 182cm long, yet friendly to uphaul thanks to its wide outline and super-thick nose.
BOOSTING EARLY TAKE-OFF
The extra long flat on the X 105 boosts early take-off. Landings and relaunches are effortless due to the ample nose kick. Recommended for riders up to 80kg using a Starboard SuperCruiser foil set.
THE NEW FOIL X 145
Dimensions: 190x71cm. 145 liter.
This new innovative concept blends an ultra-compact shape with an extra thick profile. It’s hyper maneuverable and reactive, yet even progressing windsurfers stepping off a GO will be ready for the X 145. From just 6 knots of wind, you’ll find yourself flying across the water on a board that fits in the back of a car, powered by a sail between 3.7m2 to 8.0m2.
With plenty of float, the X 145 is stable before take off. It’s long flat bottom and ultra compact outline then makes it quick to pop out of the water and take off.
Paired with Starboard’s SuperCruiser foil, learn and float your way through foil jibes at speeds lower than you thought possible, making maneuvers and 360s easier than you could ever imagine.
Freedom, weightlessness and style
As the wind picks up, from 15 to 25 knots or more, you switch to smaller sails, say between 3.0 and 4.7 and a whole new world opens up with a foiling style that is all about freedom, weightlessness and style.
The Foil X 105 and Foil X 145 are both available in Flax Balsa construction and the Foil X 145 is also available in Starlite.
THE NEW FOIL FREERIDE 125 AND 150
Dimensions 125: 210x76cm. 125 liter.
Dimensions 150: 210x85cm. 150 liter.
The second generation performance freeride foilboards from Starboard are here.
Extra comfortable tail shapes add a feel of power and control under rider’s feet.
Wider tails add stability during flight and allows you to drive the board with more power.
IMPROVED VOLUME DISTRIBUTION AND MANEUVERABILITY
Shorter noses and mast track pulled back improve maneuverability and take off ease, also reducing swing weight, creating a lighter flight feel. Improved volume distribution for more stability during flight and when tacking and uphauling.
The Foil Freeride 125 and 150 are available in Starlite and Flax Balsa construction.
THE NEW FOIL RACE 177
Dimensions: 219x91cm. 177 liter.
The extra-wide tail and increased thickness give you power, control and stability. Out of a tack or off the start, the 8cm step in the tail reduces the tail’s wetted surface area and the oversized cutaways get you planing super quick for a faster take-off.
Airflow is improved over the new nose profile and a deep deck concave increases lift, promoting the earliest take-off, adding power in light winds and allowing the nose to be shortened 8cm. This shorter nose reduces swing weight, again helping earlier take-off, it makes the board more responsive, adds control in high winds and gives you more upwind angle.
MORE LIFT, MORE POWER
With more lift, more power and less swing weight, you can take advantage of every wind shift, fly through lulls and get to the upwind mark, downwind mark and across the finish line in pole position.
The Foil Race 177 is available in Carbon Reflex construction.
SHARP RAILS THROUGHOUT THE RANGE
The Foil Box is larger and stronger than a normal fin box to distribute loads over a larger area. It is built using solid sheets of 20 mm thick high-density PVC with 8 mm thick carbon fibre walls, and has a flat, parallel bottom which allows the box to take both types of foil bases: tapered ‘Tuttle-style’ base and rectangular foil bases.
In either case, it is strongly recommended for the front of the foil’s base to reach the bottom of the box. This ensures that the vertical lifting load from the foil will be carried by both the front wall of the box and the bottom wall of the box.
Foil X and Freeride: Comes with Drake Slick footstraps. They are made with FSC-certified, sustainably sourced and plant-based Yulex foam. With 85% natural rubber content, CO² emitted during the manufacturing process is reduced by 80%. The remaining 15% of synthetic neoprene is kept to improve UV resistance.
Carefully sourced with the smoothest fabric for a comfortable feel.
Foil Race 177: Comes with a the latest generation of Drake Ultralight straps. These straps are ideal for foiling when foot pressure is lighter than regular windsurfing. The Ultralight’s elongated screw slots also allow the rider to set their back strap extra-wide using hole spacings further apart. This allows the rider’s foot to shift forward for downwind and backwards for upwind, giving perfect trim-adjustment on the fly.

THE FLAGSHIP CONSTRUCTION
OUR MOST INNOVATIVE CONSTRUCTION
OUR BEST VALUE OFFERING
The main innovation of this board is what we call the "double outline” which enables us to have an extreme early planing ability due to the round bottom outline and a super comfortable stance at the same time because of the straight deck outline. Early planing is key where we compete in light winds such as 4-5 kts. At that same time being able to carry as much power on the foil and having a back foot position far out on the rail is key.
If you want to have the best foil board to compete at PWA level, this is the one you need!
We had a lot of fun to develop this board with the Dream Foil Team: Gonzalo, Matteo, Tristan and me. Enjoy!
For every board sold, we plants a mangrove in the Thor Heyerdahl Climate Park, absorbing one ton of CO2 over 20 years. Learn more >
